Entercard starts using recycled plastic in credit cards
From September 2022, Entercard will start to transition its credit card portfolio to recycled plastic. The cards will be made with at least 85, 5% recycled plastic, obtained from local plastic waste, close to where Entercard’s card producer Idemia's production sites are located. There will therefore be no long-distance transport of the plastic before it ends up in production.
The cards produced with recycled plastic will save 7g of Co2 per card, as well as reduce 3.18g of plastic per card compared to a standard plastic card. During one year, this sums up to approx. 3,5 tons of CO2 and 1,5 tons waste saved.
”It is of great importance for us, our partners and our customers to actively look for opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint. Entercard therefore wants to offer a more sustainable alternative to the plastic cards we use today. Several of our partners have a significant focus on environmentally friendly and green solutions in their business. We are therefore very positive about the transition to recycled plastic, says Line Jacobsen Hegge, Head of Card and Statement Operations at Entercard.”
